Community Engagement Coordinator

About the Role
We are hiring a committed and culturally intelligent Community Engagement Coordinator to lead Terradot’s engagement efforts with local communities across our operational territories. As Terradot rapidly expands its field footprint, this role will be essential to building trust, securing stakeholder alignment, and ensuring full compliance with ESG and carbon certification requirements.
Working under the SOP Manager and closely with the ESG and Deployment teams, the Community Engagement Coordinator will act as the primary interface between Terradot and the communities where we operate. This individual will also play a central role in fulfilling social and environmental expectations from certification entities such as Isometric, as well as from investors and clients like Microsoft.
We are hiring the Community Engagement Coordinator to:
Ensure that Terradot meets certification, legal, and ethical obligations regarding local communities.
Build proactive, transparent, and long-term relationships in zones of operation.
Minimize the risk of social conflict or opposition during scale-up.
Provide a strong foundation of local acceptance and legitimacy to support our long-term success.
Role Responsibilities
Design and implement a scalable community engagement strategy tailored to Terradot’s deployment regions.
Serve as the primary liaison between Terradot and local stakeholders, including farmers, cooperatives, community leaders, NGOs, and government agencies.
Organize community consultations, listening sessions, and townhall-style meetings to ensure informed participation and local buy-in.
Maintain clear and organized documentation of all community engagements as required by carbon certifiers and auditors.
Monitor local sentiment and proactively identify and mitigate risks of resistance, misunderstanding, or reputational damage.
Collaborate with the ESG team to ensure alignment with environmental and social policies.
Assist in designing and implementing initiatives that create local value and demonstrate positive impact (e.g., education programs, environmental awareness, job creation).
Generate periodic reports on engagement activities, stakeholder mapping, and field-level sentiment to support internal decision-making and external disclosures.
Provide training and capacity-building to operational teams on respectful community interaction, cultural awareness, and communication.
Support incident response protocols and ensure that all community grievances are recorded, investigated, and resolved transparently.
What Success Looks Like (90 Days, 6 Months, 12 Months)
In the First 90 Days
Establish a stakeholder map and engagement calendar for Q3 deployments.
Document all interactions to comply with Isometric’s requirements.
Build trust with key community leaders in each deployment zone.
Deliver the first engagement report aligned with ESG and certification standards.
In 6–12 Months
Institutionalize community engagement processes across all deployment cycles.
Ensure full compliance with social requirements from certifying entities.
Reduce community-related operational risks to zero through early identification and mitigation.
Become a recognized, trusted face of Terradot in strategic territories.
Must-Have Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Public Relations, Sustainability, Anthropology, Environmental Management, or related fields.
3+ years of experience in community relations, stakeholder engagement, or sustainability.
Deep understanding of rural and agricultural community dynamics in Brazil.
Experience working with ESG frameworks and/or certification programs.
Excellent communication, active listening, and conflict-resolution skills.
Strong documentation and reporting capabilities.
Ability to travel frequently and work closely with field operations.
Nice-to-Have
Experience in carbon markets, environmental certifications, or ERW-related projects.
Background in agribusiness, rural extension services, or development programs.
Familiarity with certification processes (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard, Isometric).
Experience working in startups or high-growth mission-driven companies.
