Health & Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining programs and practices that ensure Compliance with local legislation and corporate standards. This position play a critical role in fostering a culture of health and safety, driving continuous improvement, and supporting operational excellence in a fast-paced, complex manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead all aspects of the plant's Health, Safety, and Wellbeing programs.
Ensure full compliance with national and international safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and job hazard analyses, and develop action plans to mitigate identified risks.
Monitor key safety metrics, investigate incidents and near-misses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Champion a proactive safety culture across all departments and organizational levels.
Design and deliver training programs related to occupational safety, emergency preparedness, ergonomics, and environmental protocols.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and HR to drive safety performance aligned with corporate goals.
Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior leadership, identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
Coordinate audit and certification initiatives (SES, FPES, ISO 45001, ISO 14001), ensuring readiness for internal and external inspections.
Lead the Health and Wellbeing program, managing initiatives internally and externally while benchmarking with operations in Mexico and other global manufacturing sites.
1. Job Knowledge and Skills:
Experience in leading teams.
Deep understanding of occupational health and safety regulations (Brazilian NR standards and international frameworks).
Proven experience managing ISO certifications and compliance audits.
Expertise in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Proficiency in data analysis tools and KPIs.
Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
2. Years of Experience:
Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in occupational health and safety management, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
3. Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
