We work in more than 100 countries, using our capital, expertise, and influence to create markets and opportunities. Our mission is to leverage the power of the private sector to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity on a livable planet.

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, is a global investor and advisor committed to promoting projects in its developing member countries that are economically beneficial, financially and commercially sound, and environmentally and socially sustainable. IFC finances private sector investments, mobilizes capital in the international financial markets, helps clients improve social and environmental sustainability, and provides technical assistance and advice to governments and businesses in the developing world.

IFC’s Advisory Services in Public Private Partnerships (C3P) is focused on assisting governments to develop and bring to market public-private partnerships primarily in the infrastructure and social sectors. In Brazil, C3P has – among other initiatives - a partnership with the Brazilian Development Bank (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social – BNDES) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) called the Private Sector Partnership Program (or PSP Program) to jointly develop such projects. C3P is seeking to recruit an Associate Investment Officer (AIO), to be based in São Paulo, and who will report to the head of the PSP Program.
Duties and Accountabilities:

  • The Associate Investment Officer will work as or closely with team leaders as part of the project team to assist in the origination, due diligence, structuring, negotiation and bidding of infrastructure projects.
  • The AIO will work with national, state and local level governments in Brazil and in the LAC Region in identifying and developing PPP transactions for infrastructure projects.

Duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Contribute to origination and marketing activities including preparation of pitch books, market analysis, project assessments and proposals;
  • Prepare memos and documentation for internal approval and consultant procurement processes;
  • Perform financial analysis and modeling;
  • Assist in project management, coordination with transaction lawyers and technical consultants;
  • Preparation of due diligence and transaction structuring reports, and review of legal, commercial, and technical outputs and documentation;
  • Assist in preparation of information memorandums, pre-qualification and tender documentation;
  • Assist in marketing to potential investors, conducting international competitive tenders and commercial/financial closure;
  • Participate in meetings with government clients and investors; and
  • Assist in other project or strategy related activities as the need may arise (research, reporting, etc.).

Selection Criteria

  • MBA or Masters degree in Finance or equivalent;
  • Solid and relevant experience of a minimum of five years in the PPP industry, gained in a financial or advisory institution either in project finance, corporate finance, M&A and privatizations, or private equity funds focused on infrastructure;
  • Knowledge of overall industry sector trends and experience in infrastructure transactions/PPPs in Latin America and the Caribbean especially Brazil with a proven track record;
  • Strong financial modeling skills;
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills and ability to communicate ideas clearly and confidently;
  • Good presentation skills both written and oral;
  • Willingness and ability to travel on short notice and frequently, as required; and
