As a Director of Engineering on the CALA AD&C team, reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, you will work on projects across Hilton's brand portfolio, including projects for all brands in South America.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Your role is important and below are some of the fundamental job duties that make your work unique.
What your day-to-day will be like:
- Design Review: Evaluate MEP&FP drawings, calculations, and documents for compliance with D&C Brand Standards and industry best practices.
- Identify Deviations: From Design and Construction Brand Standards and best industry practices.
- FLS Strategy: Assess Fire Life Safety design early to ensure international codes and brand requirements are met.
- Value Engineering: Participate in VE reviews to promote cost-efficient construction solutions.
- Construction Oversight: Review submittals, shop drawings, and construction details; conduct site visits to ensure compliance with the submitted and approved drawings and construction documents following D&C brand standards.
- Commissioning & Handover: Manage testing, balancing, and commissioning of MEP&FP systems; ensure complete documentation for successful hotel openings.
How you will collaborate with others:
- Partner with Project Management, Design, and Architecture teams to guide engineering development of projects including: MEP&FP design reviews and FLS strategy through reviews and site visits assuring construction methos and systems installation while complying with D&C Brand Standards.
- Help engineer aspects of Property Improvement Plans for existing and converting hotels.
- Lead engineering review meetings and workshops with design consultants, contractors, commissioning providers, ownership groups, and developers, to communicate D&C Brand Standard requirements, code interpretations, and best industry practices.
- Support AD&C in advocating ESG and energy/water efficiency strategies into project designs.
- Review and recommend updates based on Brand Standards and architectural priorities.
What projects you will take ownership of:
- Oversee MEP&FP design and construction from project signing through opening, ensuring compliance with standards and quality benchmarks in the region.
- Provide engineering guidance to Project Managers and PIP writers for hotel conversions and renovations.
WHY YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT
You have these minimum qualifications:
- Ten (10) years of work experience in design and construction administration of MEP & FP systems
- Five (5) years of management experience and working with clients.
- Two (2) years of hospitality experience, including lead design roles in new construction and renovation projects, for an international hotel group.
- Licensed Professional Engineer or recognized professional qualification for design and construction-related license to practice engineering.
- Knowledge of FLS (Fire Life Safety) principles and experience applying NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) and International FLS Standards.
- Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish and English.
- Travel up to 50-75% throughout Latin America and USA.
It would be useful if you have:
- On-site practical experience, including testing and commissioning of MEP&FP systems for hospitality projects.
- Experience of sustainable design, energy efficiency, and operations principles.
- Experience managing multiple international projects.
