Dow has an opportunity for an TS&D for Adhesives, based in Jundiaí - SP (BRA).
In this role, you will leverage your expertise in acrylic adhesives to support customer needs by developing new applications and providing technical guidance on the use, handling, and processing of Dow´s adhesive technologies. Your work will focus on tape, label, and textile applications, requiring a solid foundation in polymer chemistry and adhesive formulation processes. This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of chemistry, process engineering, and customer application development, making a tangible impact on product innovation and market success.
Responsibilities – Duties, projects, tasks, and activities you would be responsible for in this role:
  • Develop value-creating adhesive solutions for tapes, labels, and textile applications by leveraging deep knowledge of acrylic chemistry, coating processes (curtain, reverse gravure and slot-die), and substrate interactions.
  • Translate Dow’s adhesive technologies into business opportunities by understanding their performance across multiple substrates such as polyolefins, cardboard, and textiles.
  • Apply the scientific method consistently to solve formulation and application challenges, including adhesion optimization, defect elimination, and performance enhancement.
  • Design and implement new applications that improve product durability, washability, UV resistance, and environmental compliance.
  • Identify patentable innovations in adhesive formulations and application techniques, and contribute to patent teams by generating critical data and initiating disclosures.
  • Lead confidentiality agreements and IP protection efforts with customers and partners to safeguard proprietary adhesive technologies.
  • Coach peers and junior team members, offering technical guidance and constructive feedback on adhesive development projects.
  • Document and communicate work through internal reports, ROC entries, presentations, and external publications when appropriate. Draft and submit patent disclosures as needed.
  • Collaborate on cross-functional teams, providing technical input to support product launches, customer trials, and strategic initiatives in the adhesives segment.
  • Partner with Product Stewards to ensure regulatory compliance and address constraints related to food contact, sustainability, and environmental safety.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or Engineering
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with acrylic adhesives for tapes, labels, and textiles.
  • English: advanced

  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrates strong competency in acrylic adhesives for pressure-sensitive applications across tapes, labels, and textiles. Applies technical knowledge to develop high-value solutions for customers and stakeholders. Contributes to multiple projects as a subject matter expert and supports customer engagement (CRM) with high-quality technical data.
  • Scientific and Engineering Methods: Proactively applies the scientific method and engineering design principles to solve formulation and application challenges. Utilizes statistical tools and stays current with technical literature to drive innovation and advance business-aligned projects.
  • Technology Integration: Identifies and defines technical challenges within the adhesive domain, understanding their impact on market applications. Leverages insights into emerging technologies and industry trends to shape technical strategies and meet stakeholder needs.
  • Business Integration: Aligns project proposals with R&D/TS&D and business objectives. Understands strategic goals and translates adhesive technology benefits into commercial opportunities that support business growth.
  • Innovative Problem-Solving: Tackles diverse and complex problems with minimal guidance, adapting to shifting priorities and new scenarios. Explores alternative approaches to overcome technical and operational barriers.
  • Intellectual Property and Documentation: Ensures intellectual property is protected through confidentiality agreements, patent disclosures, and appropriate external communications. Actively contributes to IP strategy and serves as lead author on technical reports (CRIs), records of contribution (ROCs), internal documentation (ICDs), and patents.
