About the role:
This is a key role within the Global Emerging Markets (GEM) Finance team, a ~$330m revenue business unit with significant growth ambitions, in the APAC, MEA and LATAM regions. Acting as the trusted co-pilot to the LATAM business leader(s), your key accountability is to partner with your business partner to drive commercial performance outcomes against plans, forecasts, and strategic objectives. You will be a trusted and relied upon partner, respected for your commercial acumen and your ability to provide succinct but powerful storytelling, with actionable insight.
You will be the face of Finance for your business stakeholders, connecting them, where appropriate, with your finance colleagues within CBS (Convatec Business Services) or the wider Finance team to solve the problems that don’t fall within the accountabilities of the FBP e.g., statutory accounting, tax and controlling activities. You will be an advocate for the Finance Service Delivery Model, helping your stakeholders understand the new ways of working in Finance.
You will be a leader within the Finance organization, mentoring and developing a high-performing finance team comprising of 4 clusters comprising of Brazil, Andean region, Northern and Southern LATAM with a focus in fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. You will also proactively share your business knowledge and enhance the commercial acumen of your team members to build enduring capability for our GEM BU.
This role reports to the VP Finance GEM.
Key Responsibilities:
Partner with the business to drive commercial performance outcomes against plans, forecasts, and strategic objectives.
Leading interactions with the BU stakeholders to identify risks and opportunities and implement intervention/response plans where gaps to targets are identified.
Act as a conduit between the business, external authorities, and the wider finance team, connecting stakeholders with the finance service model and fostering collaboration and communication.
Collaborate with the FP&A Center of Excellence (CoE) to manage the annual operating plans and forecasts, providing direction on strategic goals, opportunities, and risks.
Utilize financial reports and commentary to tell the story of performance, providing actionable insights that close gaps and achieve growth ambitions and other strategic objectives.
Conduct ad hoc analysis to support storytelling, commercial decisions, business cases, M&A opportunities, and to identify other opportunities and risks.
Test business case assumptions and confidently challenge the business where necessary, ensuring robustness and alignment with strategic goals.
Review commercial agreements and provide advice for commercial negotiations, including pricing, to drive optimal financial outcomes.
Provide BU performance commentaries to the Investor Relations team, for use in investor communications.
Support the growth ambitions of our LATAM business, leveraging your expertise to drive commercial success and strategic growth initiatives.
As a senior leader in the finance function with deep knowledge of the business unit, support our finance function to grow together by sharing knowledge, with a particular focus on building commercial acumen within our CBS Finance team.
Key Requirements:
Education:
Degree or Masters in Business, Finance or Economics (desirable, but commercial experience will also be taken into consideration).
Skills & Experience:
Extensive senior finance experience driving business performance outcomes in matrix environments, preferably within the Healthcare/Medical Devices industry.
Excellent communications skills.
Effective data analysis, turning data into insights that translates into influential storytelling and strategic decision-making.
Proven ability to partner with business leaders to develop and execute strategic and commercial plans, driving growth and profitability.
Strong collaborative skills and a team player.
Growth mindset with passion to establish a learning culture within the finance team, encouraging continuous improvement and professional development.
Ability to develop effective relationships and maintain constructive communication across a wide spectrum of internal stakeholders in a matrix environment.
Ability to zoom into details where necessary and see the “big picture”.
Languages:
Excellent English in writing / speaking essential.
Portuguese and Spanish languages essential.
Travel Requirements:
Position may require travel up to 25% within the LATAM region.
Working Conditions:
Hybrid working minimum 2 days per week in the office with flexibility driven by business requirements.
