- Company Overview
Solfacil is Brazil’s leading (#1 by market share) and fastest growing solar technology company.
Today, our fin tech and distribution businesses enable installers to efficiently help homeowners go solar in a way that fast, easy and affordable. We combine our financing with the distribution of solar hardware kits - including panels, inverters and batteries - in order to make the solar purchase and installation experience seamless for all parties.
Homeowners who go solar also have access to data and insights about how their system is performing, and are able to manage their account with Solfacil, through our customer platform. Through our proprietary hardware and software integrations, Solfacil can monitor and provide insights about an end client’s solar energy system’s performance, overall energy usage and reliability, and the resulting savings. We can also execute remote shutoff to control defaults and delinquencies, which is a critical capability in this market. The data and control we have is a strategic unlock that allows Solfacil to approve more customers at lower default rates than the competition, and also give us the data to remonetize customers in the future via targeted insights.
Our end goal is to be the Energy Ecosystem for the home and expand beyond solar (eg: batteries, AC, hot water heating, EV charger) to allow end clients to have affordable, reliable energy, and live with peace of mind and comfort. We know that the current business and capabilities we have built across fin tech, distribution, technology and data position us well to make this next evolution.
Our Solfacil is investing in product and technology to build this next phase of our company and are looking for top-notch talent to join us on our mission.
- Role Summary
As the Director of Product and GM for Remonetization and New Bets, you will operate with a “PM as a GM” mentality to drive the P/L and key results for our remonetization efforts and new product lines (battery storage, EV chargers, Ampera Consumo, etc.). This is not a traditional product role, as your goal will be to incubate and grow new businesses, some of which will not have a heavy dependency on technology. The team will operate with the freedom and speed of a start-up within Solfacil, which requires both strong execution abilities and intellectual horsepower.
The right leader for this team will be highly commercial and entrepreneurial - someone who builds a deep understanding of customer and go to market - and has the business and technical fluency to understand (a) the capabilities we need to win new opportunities, and (b) whether we should build, partner or buy to gain those capabilities.
In this role, your scope will be both broad and deep, including defining our Remonetization vision and strategy, aligning leadership on the key bets we will make, and turning those bets into reality and commercial results over time. As a part of your charter, you will manage a high performing team of PMs to incubate and scale new product lines, and ultimately own the new product P/Ls until they mature enough to be moved into the core business. From a traditional product perspective, you will be responsible for our hardware products (Ampera, Ampera Consumo) and the associated software platforms that ensure we drive insights and remonetization from the resulting data (including our customer app). However, capturing many of the opportunities ahead (including batteries, EV chargers, etc.) will likely be tech light and strongly focus on driving P/L and GTM.
Our remonetization and new bets are critical to our future growth path, so we are looking for a senior and entrepreneurial product leader with a strong track record of success to take on this challenge. The right leader will possess exceptional, commercially-oriented product DNA, management experience within Product, and have experience incubating and scaling new product lines in Services, Hardware or IoT companies where physical products (whether via OEM, white label or partner integrations) are core to their business. Experience in owning the B2B/B2C software platforms that drove monetization and recurring engagement is a major plus.
To be successful, you will be a strategic executor and an entrepreneur and builder at heart, capable of pulling up to the “10,000 ft. level” to understand market trends, competition, and customer needs to come up with a differentiated product strategy and commercial approach, and also drilling down to ensure we’re delivering the right work in the right order in the right way and getting the right P/L results. You will understand how to bring products from 0 to 1, how an entrepreneurial product team should operate, and bring that culture and set of operational best practices and a coaching mindset to bear for your area. You will have a bias to action and a “fall forward” mentality, effectively balancing the need to understand the “why” with efficiently and effectively getting things done and intelligently testing and learning to grow your commercial results. You will be a respected leader throughout the company - someone that other teams want to work with, and someone who partners successfully across the company - in order to align stakeholders around the right strategy and roadmap, and ultimately deliver. You will also be a crisp communicator who is adept at storytelling and can communicate effectively across levels at the company, from CEO to IC and everyone in between.
- Core Components of Remonetization and New Bets:
1. Product Line Expansion: Build and grow new product lines - including battery storage, EV charger, AC - within Solfacil. Ensure that these products are successful from a strategic, P/L and customer experience perspective, adding to our overall value proposition to our integrators and end clients, and working together seamlessly to build structural competitive advantage for Solfacil.
2. End Client Monetization: Enable installers to remonetize their customers in an efficient and effective way, and in doing so, build recurrence for integrators and Solfacil. Bring customers targeted insights and offers that are relevant, actionable and captivating, such that it’s a “no brainer” to buy.
- Key Responsibilities:
1. Own and drive the vision, strategy, and P/L results for our new product lines. Operate as an entrepreneur within Solfacil to bring products from 0-1, and collaborate with key stakeholders where necessary to ensure we are operating effectively and getting leverage from the core business where needed. Keep our executive team continuously aware of and aligned with our learnings, roadmap direction and execution progress.
2. Build and develop a high performing team of PMs, including ensuring that the team operates as the CEOs and P/L owners of their products. Operationalize best practices and create a strong, commercially oriented product culture within your team.
3. Ensure your team operates efficiently and effectively. Be willing to step in and coach (and if needed, do) in order to get the job done. Identify bottlenecks and blockers, and build (or break) process where needed to enable seamless execution. Consistently drive commercial velocity and continuous improvement.
4. Act as a champion and practitioner of an outside-in product mindset. Operate with strong commercial fluency - to the point where you are more commercially fluent than your stakeholders, and therefore can set direction and lead - rooted in a deep understanding of our market, customers, competitors and our own product-market fit. Uncover non-obvious insights that expand our knowledge of our customers and ecosystem.
5. Be a role model for your team.
- Requirements and qualifications:
1. People management experience within Product or a parallel commercial function responsible for building new product lines (General Manager, Strategic Initiatives etc.), 3+ years of which include direct responsibility for incubating and scaling new product lines in Services, Hardware or IoT companies where physical products (whether via OEM, white label or partner integrations) are core to their business.
2. Strong track record of building winning business lines, driving meaningful P/L outcomes, and building and developing high performing teams. Knows what “good” looks like and has built teams in that mold.
3. Effective leader. Operates as the CEO of their product portfolio. Builds relationships and trust with stakeholders, team and leadership. Role models the right behaviors for their team. Operates with confidence, rigor, openness, humility and kindness.
4. Clear, structured thinker with a commercial mindset and strong business judgment. Can effectively formulate strategy and balance strategic imperatives with day-to-day execution. Quickly and effectively synthesizes complex information, understands the second and third order implications of decisions and drives tradeoffs accordingly.
5. Has sufficient technical acumen to understand how technology works and use that knowledge to build the right customer offering and drive the right build/partner/buy decisions.
6. Comfortable making decisions and delivering results in a fast paced environment. Operates effectively in ambiguity. Proactively creates structure and process where needed.
7. Clear and effective communicator. Brings the right message with the right tone to the right audience at the right level. Compelling storyteller in Portuguese and English.
8. Intellectually curious (but not academic). Interested and aware of key trends, both in the market and technology, and seeks to apply them to our daily work. Actively seeks out external and internal data and perspectives (market, customer, competitor, academic research) to solve complex problems and expand our horizons. Has a growth mindset and focuses on continuous improvement, both for themselves and the team.
9. Strong first-principles thinker. Gets to the root of problems and opportunities by driving to the baseline facts and logic.
