In this role, you will be providing legal counsel in support of a wide assigned business areas and/or specialized legal areas of Western Union in Brazil.
Role Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparing and negotiating different complex agreements, accelerating financial growth and expanding the agent network within the region.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple business issues based on their stated priorities it is critical for the position.
- Assure from a legal perspective the correct implementation of any new product, understanding the market and their challenges, identifying risks and opportunities. Support compliance, product, operations and business teams in projects for new products and services.
- Ability to work with management and multiple regular sensitive and or highly confidential projects with periodic oversight delivering timely solution-oriented decisions and advice.
- Close follow-up of any regulatory requirement, or any risk that could affect the business. Achieve targets and deadlines aligned with the business team.
- Clear logical and well-reasoned written and oral communication skills teamwork-oriented. Work closely with the regional and global legal teams, actively collaborating on projects and sharing expertise to strengthen best practices.
- Responsible for proving general legal and regulatory advice on a variety of regulatory and operational matters monitoring relevant legislation (enacted and proposed), research of laws in coordination with local counsel.
- Relationship with local regulators. Actively participate in meetings with other teams, clients, agents, and vendors.
- Follow-up of litigation (pre-judicial, judicial and/or transaction stage) working with interested departments and external advisors.
- Possibility to expand local responsibilities to cross-regional projects in the future.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law and at least 5 years of experience in a recognized law firm or corporate legal department primarily supporting international corporate clients.
- Ability to work with management on multiple regular, sensitive and/or highly confidential projects with periodic oversight delivering timely, solution oriented decisions and advice.
- Proven experience in the banking or fintech sector is essential, along with strong knowledge of Brazilian financial regulations, commercial contracts, financial products and services, and legal risk management.
- Experience in negotiations with regulatory authorities, deal structuring, M&As and supporting commercial and product teams will be considered an asset.
- The ability to handle multiple tasks and multiple business issues based on their stated priorities is critical for the position.
- Negotiation skills and detail oriented.
- Microsoft Package understanding
- Good written and verbal English and Spanish.
