As a Structural Engineer, you will be actively engaged in driving industry-leading research and development associated with Digital Twin, Structural Repairs utilizing Compound within marine and offshore applications.
What You Will Do:
- Maintains an active awareness of technical, business, and management developments affecting present and potential customers and communicates this information promptly to the appropriate senior-level managers.
- Serves as an ABS representative to actively promote the services and capabilities of ABS throughout the business community.
- Initiate, plan, and execute the technology projects. Provides day-to-day leadership of the project team assigned.
- Assigns tasks to project team members and monitors the progress of all assigned projects.
- Ensures the delivery of high-quality service and maintenance of good customer relations.
- Develops suggested Rule changes and/or Rule development projects as assigned. Advises assigned staff in matters related to the application of Rules and Regulations.
- Directs the implementation and operation of the ABS Quality System concerning technical work in the assigned jurisdiction.
- Performs selected engineering support and analyses where necessary.
- Advises managers of short- and long-term manpower needs in order to ensure that qualified, trained technical staff are available as needs arise and identifies associated training needs.
- Develops or assists in the development of qualification statements, proposals, and bids; makes presentations of these materials to prospective clients when necessary.
- Ensures accurate billing to clients on time.
- Ensures that all ABS Quality System requirements about technical work within the assigned technical area of responsibility are fulfilled.
What You Will Need:
Education and Experience
- Minimum 6 years of ABS or direct, hands-on maritime-related industry or research experience.
- B.S. degree in Naval Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or other related disciplines; an advanced degree is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong communicator with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others.
- A strong background in marine or offshore structures.
- Hands-on experience in performing structural analysis using ABS engineering applications and commercial finite element analysis software.
- Ability to lead project bidding and execution, either independently or in a team setting.
- Ability to perform under pressure and deliver results in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to deliver complex messages in simple and understandable ways both verbally and in writing.
- Essential technical writing skills and experience in preparing formal reports and papers.
- Working knowledge of the ABS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Management System.

Reports to a Manager or Director.
