Job Description:
> Summary:We are seeking a meticulous and client-focused Law Practice Billing Assistant to support a dynamic firm specializing in family law, real estate, civil litigation, and criminal defense. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys handling financial data, managing billing processes, and ensuring accuracy in client accounts. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will be key to maintaining smooth financial operations and supporting attorneys' needs. > Monthly Compensation Range:
$1,015 – $1,100 USD
> Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Sending out client bills twice per month and following up regarding payments and retainers
Informing attorneys if clients need to exit due to lack of payments
Generating and reviewing client invoices based on attorney time entries and case activity
Monitoring incoming payments, following up on outstanding balances, and maintaining accurate records
Responding professionally to billing inquiries
Working closely with attorneys and assistants to ensure billing accuracy and resolve discrepancies
Assisting with monthly and quarterly financial summaries for internal review
Maintaining billing software and updating client profiles as needed
> Key Skills:
Good with numbers and highly organized
Excellent communication skills, clear and courteous in client and staff interactions
Strong attention to detail and precision in handling financial data and billing codes
Proficient in billing platforms such as Clio, Timeslips, or QuickBooks
Ability to manage multiple accounts and deadlines efficiently
Handle sensitive financial and legal information with confidentiality and discretion
> Requirements:
1–2 years of experience in billing, preferably in a legal or professional services setting
High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or business preferred
Familiarity with US legal billing practices is advantageous
Strong written and spoken English skills with excellent grammar and punctuation
Experience with e-filing court documents (preferred)
Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
Able to work in a distraction-free environment, fully focused on tasks
